A Grade 11 student attending Dover Bay Secondary, Haitao is honored to serve as the director of DISEC at NMUN 2025. Since joining Model UN in Grade 10, Haitao has attended many conferences and spent a good deal of sleepless nights finishing resolution papers and ordering McDonalds. Through MUN, Haitao has found escape from his mundane daily life, eating food at restaurants not found in Nanaimo and shopping at big fancy stores. Outside of MUN, Haitao be found tinkering with technology, practicing martial arts, and eating excessive amounts of dairy. Haitao is looking forward to a day of productive committee sessions at NMUN 2025!
Currently entering his Grade 11 year at Mount Douglas Secondary School, Manarap is honoured and thrilled to serve as the Chair of DISEC at NMUN 2025. Stepping foot inside CAIMUN 2023, his first ever MUN conference as a 9th grader‚ he was intrigued and terrified to find out what happens when you raise a placard. Ever since the day he found out that raising a placard not only gives you a chance to speak but also a chance to express so many other emotions, Manarap has fallen in love with Model UN and its amazing table banging energy. Outside the committee room, Manarap can be found smashing badminton birdies at great speeds, getting lost on long calls with friends, and after all that, unfortunately remembering that there’s an assignment due tomorrow. Manarap cannot wait for the weekend full of fruitful debates and passionate delegates.
Currently a junior at Brentwood College School, Nita is thrilled to be serving as the Assistant Director of DISEC for NMUN 2025. From her first Model UN conference as a freshman at VMUN in this very committee and as part of the host school where she slept through half of the committee sessions, Nita has been facing a continuously upward trajectory in her MUN career since, fostering friendships with other delegates and a passion for lively debate throughout her high school years. Outside the committee room, Nita enjoys overpriced coffee, has a raging addiction to block blast, and can be found at math help or looking up the cafeteria menu 20 times a day. Nita is super excited to meet everyone and cannot wait to see the debate on complex issues in action.
Walden is a Grade 12 student at Aspengrove School who is honoured to serve as the Assistant Director of the Disarmament and International Security Committee at NMUN 2025. His first experience of a Model UN conference was introduced by Dover Bay a year ago, initiating his love for Model UN. The collaborative environment is what he adores the most about the club. Outside of Model UN, Walden can be found playing hockey, the piano, walking his dog, or depressed watching the Habs play. Walden is beyond excited about NMUN and cannot wait to see the delegates debate and solve real-world issues!
Kaitlyn is currently a grade 12 student at Ballenas and is honored to be serving as flex staff for Nanaimo MUN 2025. Kaitlyn joined Model UN last year and, from the moment she participated in her first committee, she knew it was the perfect fit for her. Even in such a short time span, Kaitlyn has tried nearly every kind of committee imaginable including french language committees. Outside the committee room, Kaitlyn can be found on the sidelines with a camera in hand, editing videos, spending time with friends or, unfortunately, completing homework. Kaitlyn is looking forward to meeting everyone and watching lively debates between delegates.
