Briella Cristobal | Secretary General
Currently a grade 12 student at Nanaimo District Secondary School, Briella is truly delighted to be serving as your Secretary General for the third Iteration of NMUN! After beginning her MUN journey in grade 10 with a few of her friends, it has swiftly become one of the most vital parts of her identity. Typically taking the role of an outspoken humanitarian, she loves to make bitter comebacks to tyrannical delegations and bang far too loudly on her desk in support of others' speeches. Outside of the committee room Briella can be found playing rugby, singing along to Blame It On The Alcohol (Glee Cast Version), sipping on an overpriced matcha, and most of all procrastinating studying for math tests. As a former NMUN delegate, Briella hopes to bring an exciting and memorable experience for delegates of all experience levels. She hopes that though NMUN, the Model UN community in Nanaimo can begin to grow and flourish in years to come.
Jack Bannister | Director General
Currently in 12th grade at Dover Bay Secondary School, Jack is absolutely ecstatic to be serving as the Director General for this year's iteration of NMUN. Ever since his first conference, where he read the backgrounder while the secretariat speech was occurring and doing a quick Google search of his country that showed absolutely no helpful information, Jack has been enthralled in the chaotically calm world of Model United Nations, from raising his placard for the first time to the first speech quickly scribbled on a ripped-up piece of lined paper. Outside of the committee room, he can be seen obsessing over cars and Lego, especially Lego cars. Jack is absolutely thrilled to witness all the exciting debates that will occur and the passionate delegates who make them.
Yeelyn Luo | USG of IT
Currently in the 11th grade at Dover Bay Secondary School, Yeelyn is excited to be serving as the USG of IT for NMUN 2026. Relatively new to the Model UN experience, Yeelyn has a very fresh memory of his first conference where he spoke only three times (with two of those speeches consisting mainly of Juice WRLD lyrics) and almost missed the ferry because a keynote speaker talked for way too long. Yeelyn is grateful for the memories and skills that he has gained through Model UN and hopes that NMUN 2026 will have a similar effect on other delegates. Outside of diplomacy, Yeelyn can be found studying for an unfathomable amount of AP courses, dancing aggressively with no regard for what others might think of him and making it known to everyone who will listen that he has 100,000 robux. He cannot wait to meet the delegates at NMUN and hopes that the conference will bring joy to all those attending!
Layla Yabuki | USG of Delegate Affairs
Currently a senior at Aspengrove School, Layla is honoured to be serving as USG of Delegate Affairs for this year’s NMUN 2026. Her love of Advocacy led her to the Model United Nations two years ago. Since her first conference in Grade 11, she had developed a strong passion and devotion for diplomacy and international relations. Through MUN, Layla has enjoyed exploring global issues, collaborating with others, and engaging in meaningful discussions on complex challenges facing the international community, especially with human rights. Outside her passion for advocacy, Layla can be found drinking her Strawberry Açaí Lemonade Refresher, studying for her IB exams, or obsessing over her K-pop Idols. This year, Layla is delighted to witness the laughter of delegates and staff and hopes that she will be able to make this conference an absolute wonder for all.
